Technical Officer Horticulture

• Temporary, full-time role until 1 February 2026
• Location – Griffith NSW
• Salary ranging from $67,975 to $74,592.00 pa + super (Technical Officer Grade 1/3)

About the Role

The role provides technical support in the citrus and viticulture programs to the Horticulture team based at Griffith Research Station.

As our new Technical Officer (Horticulture), you will be required to:

• Undertake field experiments under minimal supervision
• Accurately collect research data and collate for statistical analysis
• Manage field trials, (including irrigation, fertigation and other ongoing maintenance work in conjunction with farm staff and contractors, as required)
• Assist with the interpretation and analysis of results for reporting requirements
• Participate in extension and communication activities in collaboration with the research team
• Comply with work standards according to the level of appointment in the Technical Officer Merit Progression Guidelines

To be successful in the role you will have:

• Demonstrated experience in developing and managing agricultural field experiments including the operation and maintenance of associated field equipment
• Experience in field data collection, collation and interpretation
• Computer literate with skills in Microsoft Office Suite, data analytical software and other software used in research trials.
• At a minimum, basic laboratory skills in chemical analysis and a willingness to learn
• Qualifications in accordance with Part 2 (xviii) of the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of field-based trials.
• Willingness to travel as required.
