Support the adoption & implementation of programs, projects & policies aimed at protecting NSW livestock industries, environment & community from animal biosecurity & welfare risks.

 

In this role you will lead and manage projects aimed at implementing contemporary evidence-based animal biosecurity policy and advice as set out in the NSW DPI strategic plan and Animal Biosecurity, Welfare and LLS joint business plan.  

Having excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills you will be adept at developing and maintaining strong professional relationships with internal departments, key industry bodies, government agencies, veterinary practitioners and other service providers, as you provide veterinary and technical analysis and advice.

Delivering within the project management framework, you will prepare a range of comprehensive project or policy related documents including briefs, reports, status updates and discussion papers.

You will support the Group Director and Team Leader in planning, preparedness and operational responses to animal biosecurity emergencies, liaising with others to deliver a coordinated and effective response during a biosecurity emergency event and taking part in on -call duty rotation.

You will also have the resilience to work under pressure, be able to juggle multiple competing priorities, the confidence to filter and prioritise requests and negotiate deadlines when required, and be a proactive, fast-paced thinker.

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have a degree in Veterinary Science registrable in NSW, a passion for animal biosecurity, proven experience analysing complex information, solving problems, managing tight timeframes and competing deadlines, as well as a current NSW Driver Licence with the capacity to travel across the State as required.

 

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or interest in any of the following a) livestock including ruminants, pigs and horses, b) epidemiology and c) data analysis to enhance the Animal Biosecurity team.
