About the role

The Senior Project Officer will manage project, event and/or program activities as required to provide a high level of strategic advice to support the successful delivery of Regional Programs initiatives.

 

Working as the new Senior Project Officer you will:

  • Provide high quality and timely advice to the Manager / Director regarding projects and programs, events, strategies, risks and issues to keep relevant groups informed and facilitate informed decisions
  • Implement and monitor project operational plans and phases
  • Monitor the budgets and targets of projects, programs and events
  • Scope and prepare project plans, develop briefs, identify stakeholder and interest groups, physical resources, and key milestones, and report on outcomes and evaluation methodology, ensuring consistency with Government objectives.
  • Research and prepare advice in the form of correspondence or briefs to respond to Ministerial, Cabinet, Departmental or community requests.

 

This role will be providing considered advice and solutions in a high-volume work environment, with competing priorities and deadlines which are often changing and unpredictable.

 

This role reports to the Programs Manager.

 

About You

You are a result driven team player seeking a project-based role. You will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to support the Project Team in driving the projects agenda and maintain effective working relationships and communication with key stakeholders across both public and private sectors.

 

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Sound experience in undertaking all aspects of project work – research, development, implementation, review and evaluation
  • An understanding of project governance and risk management methodology
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience supporting client services and project teams, with a focus on execution and delivery
  • Strong self-management and time management
  • Organisational skills to balance competing demands across the team
  • Ability to initiate, develop and implement processes to improve team effectiveness

 

Essential requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training.
