In your new role as Senior Legal Officer you will provide high level legal advice and drafting services in the area of commercial and real property law to contribute to the work of the Commercial team in servicing key client areas. As part of your role you will assist Departmental staff with the negotiation of commercial transactions and agreements to inform better decision making.

 

What we are looking for:

Our preferred candidate will be capable of building trusted relationships with clients and be self-sufficient and self-motivated with the confidence to work independently. They will have attention to detail and a genuine passion for law in a government context. They will have proven networking ability with a strong customer focus.

 

Ideally, we would love for someone to have experience working within both property and commercial law, however this is not essential.

 

In addition, the successful candidate will have:

  • Eligibility to hold a current practising certificate as a solicitor in NSW
  • Ability to conduct contractual negotiations and to make sound commercial judgements to achieve government objectives
  • Thrive in an environment that values autonomy, independence a strong work ethic and culture
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • The ability to manage and prioritise your own activities to meet program schedules
