Who is the
Department of Regional NSW? Why work for us?
Our Department is responsible for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses.

We encourage applicants from all backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, the LGBTIQ+ community, veterans, refugees, and people with disability. We support an inclusive workplace where staff have access to opportunities and resources at all levels, enabling our team members to drive innovation, productivity and delivery of high-quality services. We provide dignified access to reasonable adjustments both during the recruitment process and in the workplace. Western Local Land Services are seeking a proactive, hands-on Senior Land Services Officer (NRM Projects) to identify and manage a variety of priority landscapes and threatened species projects and programs throughout the region.

Part of a varied and dynamic regionally dispersed team you’ll engage with landholders to lead and deliver on-ground priority projects, as well as work with the broader NRM team to identify new project opportunities. You’ll also be responsible for supervising staff as and when required.

About You:
Ideally, you’ll have a degree in agriculture, environmental science or natural resource management. If not, you’ll have an equivalent level of industry knowledge and experience.

You’ll also have a passion for natural resource management, the ability to work closely with and understand the needs of both landowners and community groups and be able to balance conflicting goals and deadlines. Knowledge of landscapes and threatened species would also be ideal.

You’ll be self-motivated, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a positive and solution-focused attitude with the ability to think creatively and solve complex problems for both yourself and others as they arise.

Demonstrated project management experience combined with proven relationship management and partnership development experience is also required. Experience in working with landholders is essential.

As an essential requirement of the role, you’ll also need to have a current NSW Driver Licence, and the capacity and willingness to travel throughout Western NSW as required.

Please note that the successful applicant will be required to undertake a functional health assessment as part of their pre-employment conditions before an offer on employment can be made.

How to apply:
If this role sounds ideal to you, please apply via our online portal by submitting your resume and a brief cover letter outlining how your skills and experience match what we are looking for. We will then get back in touch after the closing date.
