Northen Tablelands Local Land Services are seeking a proactive, hands-on Senior Land Services Officer Biosecurity to provide effective and high-quality Biosecurity services to rural landholders and stakeholders, partners and industry groups.

About The Role

As part of a varied and dynamic regionally dispersed team you will;

  • Manage Biosecurity programs and projects ensuring best-practice governance and compliance in line with LLS performance standards and initiatives including aerial baiting programs and on ground trapping and baiting programs.
  • Collect and collate data, analyse information and provide accurate and appropriately balanced advice, and reporting on complex Biosecurity issues.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, agencies and partner organisations, and develop major partnerships and support collaboration.
  • Lead project teams and facilitate implementation of the Local Land Services Act 2013, Biosecurity Act and other legislative responsibilities.
  • Prepare contracts and manage contractors for biosecurity projects and programs.

About You

Ideally, you’ll have;

  • A degree in agriculture, biosecurity, pest management or animal health - if not, an equivalent level of industry knowledge and experience
  • The capacity to understand legislation and policy as it relates to Biosecurity Act and/or other legislative responsibilities.
  • A passion for pest management programs
  • Demonstrated project management experience combined with proven relationship management and partnership development.
  • The ability to work closely with stakeholders and within a team and understand the needs of pest animal strategy & operations.
  • Sound prioritisations skills when managing conflicting goals and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive and solution focused attitude with the ability to think creatively and solve complex problems.

As an essential requirement of the role, you’ll also need to have:

  • Current NSW Driver Licence and the ability and willingness to travel
  • Ability and willingness to undertake a Police check and medical clearance and to hold the following:
  • appropriate qualifications relevant to pesticide application
  • a NSW Firearms Licence or equivalent,
  • a Statement of Attainment (to Use Firearms to humanely destroy animals)
  • appointment as an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act
