The Northern Tablelands LLS region is bounded by Tenterfield in the north and Walcha in the south. The region extends between Warialda and Delungra in the west and reaches to the escarpment of the Great Dividing Range in the east. Our region lays claim to diverse geology, soils and variable terrain which support a broad range of vegetation communities as well as a mix of livestock grazing and cropping enterprises including cereals, legumes and oil seeds.

The North West LLS region is made up of the council areas of Gunnedah, Gwydir, Liverpool Plains, Moree Plains, Narrabri, Tamworth and Walgett. The region has an area of approximately 82,000 km2. It is home to around 113,000 people who live mainly along the rivers and their tributaries with major regional centres of Moree, Narrabri, Gunnedah and Tamworth. Around 7,500 people are employed directly in agricultural industries.

We’re looking for people to join our teams. We need highly motivated and experienced professionals who are passionate about rural land management and are keen to make a difference, working hand in hand with landowners to ensure that land management legislation is both understood and followed. We provide advice regarding the Land Management Code as well as conduct fieldwork as part of the assessment process for developing certificates under the Code. What you need to do this role;

  • Previous experience and/or qualifications in Land Management and/or Natural Resource Management
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, accurately interpret legislation and provide timely advice
  • Demonstrated ability to follow processes
  • Demonstrated experience in using Client Relationship databases and ArcGIS or equivalent platform
  • Demonstrated interest/curiosity in native vegetation and desirable that you are familiar with the use of botanical keys
  • Previous experience engaging and forming strong relationships with landholders
  • Proven experience in leading and taking charge of projects, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience supervising team members and providing support where needed

These senior roles work with landholders in the implementation of land management legislation and assessment of related applications.

Our ideal candidates will have a positive and solution focused attitude, you’ll be able to think creatively and solve complex problems for both yourself and others as they arise. You’ll also be able to work within and lead small project teams and operate autonomously with limited supervision and simply get things done.
