Regional Development and Programs ensure representation of regional NSW perspectives in decision making and play a crucial community-facing leadership role to support improved outcomes in economic development and community wellbeing for regional NSW.

The Regional Development Branch facilitates business and industry growth and diversification to increase employment and training opportunities in regional NSW. We support economies in transition and work with critical stakeholders to increase service accessibility and improve the quality of life for regional NSW. Our coordination expertise enables the delivery of social outcomes, and as trusted advisors, we inform decision making and government intervention activities.

About the role

The Senior Coordination Officer, within the Regional Development Strategy & Support team will undertake policy, project and coordination work to support the delivery of the Government’s priorities across NSW.

As a Senior Coordination Officer, you will:

  • Develop, manage and implement cross-agency and inter-governmental projects, events and initiatives that drive the delivery of the Government’s priorities and achieve positive outcomes for communities. Consult with relevant stakeholders to ensure the feasibility of proposed projects and initiatives.
  • Prepare high quality briefings, correspondence and advice for the Department’s Executive, Premier and Deputy Premier, the Cabinet and Minister to inform the Government’s response to key issues impacting regional NSW. Ensure all relevant matters are addressed, the information is factual, accurate and succinct, and the NSW policy position is clearly represented.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with government agencies and key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Government’s priorities are understood and met at the regional level, particularly on multi-agency issues with whole-of-State significance.

About you

You are proactive, results driven and a team player, with the ability to drive an agenda, maintain effective stakeholder relationships, manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines in a challenging, fast-paced and highly rewarding government department.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of the workings of Government, including Ministerial roles, agency functions and central agency responsibilities and capacity to achieve results in these contexts.
  • Sound understanding of the environmental, social and economic regional issues facing governments, agencies and communities.
  • A current drivers licence.
  • Experience in managing internal and external consultations and negotiations on projects and initiatives with a wide range of stakeholders with varying philosophies, capabilities and interests.
