Murray Local Land Services are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead our flagship river health project in the Murray and Riverina Regions.  In collaboration with local, state, and national partners, this project will drive transformative change in catchment management and river health across New South Wales.

About the Role:
The “Refreshing River Management” project is an exciting 10-year initiative funded by the NSW Environmental Trust.  The project concept has been developed by a consortium of 15 partner organisations to demonstrate a new model for driving improvement in river health outcomes.

The successful candidate will step in right from the beginning to establish the foundation for the project, finalise detailed project planning, and commence implementation.  Working under the guidance of a project Steering Committee, you will be accountable for the overall success of the project, including:

  • Liaising with and maintaining good working relationships between all consortium partners
  • Negotiating agreements with consortium partners and developing whole-of-project contracts
  • Coordinating and/or delivering selected project components
  • Undertaking annual implementation plan development and monitoring plans
  • Undertaking budget preparation and monitoring
  • Providing direct supervision to project staff and overall coordination of the wider project team

About You:
To be successful in this role you’ll need to have demonstrated complex project management experience (including planning, financial management, and evaluation) as well as proven relationship management and partnership development skills. Knowledge of natural resource management is required, with a strong understanding of aquatic ecosystems and river health management. Formal project management training would be highly regarded.

You’ll be a proven leader who inspires and influences others.  Previous experience in supervising staff and managing committees would be beneficial. An excellent communicator with the ability to develop relationships, you’ll also have the internal drive and motivation to achieve outcomes to a high standard.

Having a positive and solution-focused attitude, you’ll be able to think creatively and solve complex problems for both yourself and others as they arise. You’ll also be able to work autonomously with limited supervision and simply get things done.

As an essential requirement of the role, you’ll need to have a current Drivers Licence, and the capacity and willingness to travel throughout the Murray and Riverina regions as required.

Please note that the successful applicant will be required to undertake a  functional health assessment as part of their pre-employment conditions before an offer on employment can be made.
