Central West Local Land Services (CWLLS) have two fantastic opportunities to join the Agriculture Advisory services team. These roles are perfect for people who are enthusiastic about stakeholder engagement and facilitating partnerships with farmers, industry and community groups to deliver sustainable agriculture outcomes.

Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitator (RALF)

  • Full time position until 30 June 2023
  • Ideally located in Dubbo, however any LLS office across CWLLS region will be considered

As the CWLLS RALF you will:

  • Be an active member of the National RALF Network, including involvement in relevant ‘Communities of Practice” to better understand complex issues, improve networks and help develop solutions for national priorities.
  • Use your experience and technical expertise to engage and inform farmers, community groups and agricultural industries about emerging ideas and innovative practices to help improve the sustainability, productivity and profitability of agriculture.
  • Facilitate partnerships that will best deliver agriculture outcomes including supporting and contributing to community-based committees, as well as industry and stakeholder groups, including the Central West NRM Working Group.
  • Develop and deliver capacity building training events and resources related to Sustainable Agriculture
  • Contribute to strategic planning of future NRM and Sustainable Agriculture service delivery across the Central West region
  • Liaise with the Australian Government to ensure the effective delivery of services funded through the National Landcare Program

Agriculture Advisory Officer (Mixed Farming)

  • Full time ongoing position
  • Can be located at any CWLLS northern office including Gilgandra, Coonamble, Coonabarabran, Dubbo or Nyngan

In this role you will:

  • Work directly with producer and industry to identify and develop key priorities for extension and adoption within the mixed farming sector of Central West region and broadly across the industry
  • Develop and deliver project activities that directly address key drivers and barriers to sustainable agricultural production and profitability, natural resource management and preparing for and minimising impacts of exotic and endemic pest threats, natural disasters and emergencies.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to industry and producers to increase adoption of best practice management.
  • Support effective planning processes within Local Land Services and with producers and land managers to prepare for and respond to natural disasters and emergencies
  • Utilise adult learning principles to effectively develop and deliver targeted education and training activities
  • Create collaborative networks and producer groups for effective delivery of projects and programs.

To be successful in these roles you’ll need a relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in sustainable agriculture, environmental management or farming systems, as well as strong communication skills and an open and inquisitive approach to sustainable agriculture.

You’ll also need to have proven experience in group facilitation, working effectively with differing communication styles and engaging with varying stakeholder groups.

A current NSW driver licence combined with the willingness and ability to travel across NSW (including overnight stays) is also required.
