You probably know of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You may not have known that it was delivered in 1932 by NSW Public Works Advisory. About the role

Due to expanding workloads in our region, Public Works Advisory (PWA) is looking for a Project Manager / Engineer with a passion for planning and executing infrastructure projects to join our diverse team in the Wagga Wagga office.

You will work with a range of stakeholders to maximise public value in infrastructure planning, program delivery and asset operation. Working alongside experienced and knowledgeable engineering  and construction project management staff, you will manage projects from inception, scoping, design, construction and through to post completion. This fast paced, exciting role provides the opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure projects that make a real difference to NSW regional communities.


About you

  • You are a degree-qualified Engineer or Project Manager. You may have completed studies in the last few years or have experience in project and contract management on a range of civil engineering projects, including water and/or wastewater treatment.
  • You have knowledge of project management principles, and skills in project planning, review and reporting, but above all else you are driven to grow your skills and knowledge and learn from peers with many years’ experience delivering community infrastructure in regional areas.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively with clients and multidisciplinary teams to meet business and client expectations in a commercial environment and have a proven ability to foster business relationships using your high-level communication and interpersonal skills.
  • It goes without saying that you have a high degree of computer literacy, with an understanding of project management systems and experience in the use of the Microsoft Office product suite.

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management and/or engineering
  • Well-developed knowledge and understanding of current Work Health and Safety legislation and regulations
  • A valid NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight stays
  • Employment screening checks, security or other clearances and health assessments.

Public Works Advisory (PWA) is part of the Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW), and supports local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services. We bridge the gap between the government and the private sector, helping clients to maximise value, optimise costs and manage risks in their infrastructure programs and the lifecycle management of their assets. These services are built on a solid foundation of more than 160 years of effective delivery and management of critical infrastructure projects for the State of NSW.
