Rural Assistance Authority are currently seeking Program Officers to provide a range of administrative support functions to ensure efficient and effective operations and high-quality service to clients. (Multiple Roles)

  • Temporary full-time roles ranging from 6 to 9 months

  • Attractive salary from $99,431.00p.a. - $110,064.00p.a. + superannuation

About Us 

The Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW) was formed in 2020 as a central agency for regional issues. The Department has responsibility for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses.

The Rural Assistance Authority (RAA) is part of the DPI Infrastructure Investment & Business Development Branch and works to deliver programs that provide rural support and enhance connections with our communities. The RAA has decades of experience and expertise in the assessment and administration of financial assistance schemes to primary producers and small business operators in NSW on behalf of both the NSW and Australian Governments.

About the role

As Program Officer with the Rural Assistance Authority, you will coordinate and lead a team of Assessment Officers in the efficient and effective administration, delivery and promotion of the Authority's rebates and grants programs.

As a specialist administrator of government financial assistance programs including loans, rebates, grants and other ad hoc funding programs, the Rural Assistance Authority (RAA) plays an active role in contributing to farming and rural policies and provides advice to the Minister for Agriculture and Western NSW.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Maintain the loan portfolio including approval, maintenance and arrears management.
  • Coordinate administrative processes to deliver financial assistance program funds; to allocate funds to approved recipients; and to ensure transactions are actioned in accordance with lending/accounting standards as well as accepted governance and audit requirements.
  • Maintain program financial and statistical reporting requirements, reconcile financial and recipient records, and ensure effective financial management, auditing and reporting mechanisms are in place to support sound governance and audit protocols.
  • Provide accurate scheduled and ad-hoc financial reporting and advice ensuring a timely response to Ministerial and departmental requests.
  • Undertake research, consultation, analysis, monitoring and evaluation of relevant financial institution systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide information and advice to clients and stakeholders regarding status, conditions, and or variations to applications and assistance measures.
  • Respond to and effectively manage appeals and complaints.

To be successful in this role you will have an understanding of the grants and/or loans process. You will be able to manage high volumes of work in a fast-paced environment, reprioritising where necessary to ensure good customer service all while managing and leading your team to do the same.

Essential Requirements

  • Current Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel.
