About Us

The NSW Government has committed $48 million for an expansion of the Farms of the Future program. The Farms of the Future program will deliver on-farm connectivity and encourage farmers to adopt ag tech to boost productivity and improve resource management, including water efficiency and drought preparedness across 11 target local government areas (LGAs) in NSW.

The program is part of the Future Ready Regions strategy, that lays out the government’s plans to support and work with regional communities, farmers and industries, enabling them to become more self-reliant and better prepared for the impacts of future drought events and other economic shocks.

The Farms of the Future program is being delivered by the Department of Regional NSW in partnership with Primary Industries, who are leading the implementation of the program through to mid-2025, with the program team being a leading group within the DPI Agriculture Climate group.

The NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) supports the development of profitable primary industries that create a more prosperous NSW and contributes to a better environment through the sustainable use of natural resources.

Within NSW DPI, Agriculture (DPI Ag) leads agricultural industry development through extension, science and research, industry policy and regulatory compliance functions to foster sustainable and economic agricultural industries; and provides access to financial loans and grants through the Rural Assistance Authority (RAA).
