Riverina Local Land Services (LLS) have an amazing opportunity for you to be part of a team helping to revive the Riverina’s Malleefowl.

The Riverina was once home to the largest known Malleefowl population in NSW. Riverina LLS is working with local landholders and managers to help protect/restore Malleefowl habitat and investigating ways to increase Malleefowl numbers.

As the ‘Reviving the Riverina’s Malleefowl’ Project Officer you’ll be responsible for:

  • Working with landholders to deliver habitat management incentives
  • Managing the monitoring camera network (remote areas)
  • Coordinating on-farm pest control programs
  • Assisting with the captive breeding program and monitoring Malleefowl chicks (remote areas)
  • Project promotion and awareness-raising events

Ideally, you’ll have an agricultural science or environmental management background, however, what’s more important is your passion for natural resource management, ability to work closely with landowners and community groups, and proven community engagement and project delivery skills.

You’ll be self-motivated, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have experience in working alone and often in remote areas, and be able to build and maintain trust with the varied people you’ll be working with to deliver on-ground programs and projects.

As an essential requirement of the role, you’ll also need to have a current NSW Driver Licence, and the capacity and willingness to travel throughout the region as required.
