Manage landscape land issues for environmental, production, and biosecurity outcomes.

Reporting to the North West Local Land Services (LLS) Natural Resource Team Leader, this role will manage and implement a range of stakeholder support for the development and delivery of an innovative LLS project.

Being responsible for environmental accountability across multiple high biodiversity sites and working closely with Indigenous communities, land managers, stakeholders, and clients, this is a role where you can really make a difference, and your responsibilities will include:

Natural resource management:

  • Interpret and advise on the application of relevant NRM legislation, policy, and procedures across multiple sites
  • Manage conflicting opinions and requirements between natural resource users
  • Negotiate solutions with various stakeholders to resolve complex natural resource management issues

Land management:

  • Work closely with neighbouring properties to ensure the correct management of land for biodiversity outcomes
  • Encourage a partnership approach with customers, stakeholders, and land managers
  • Undertake project and contractor management including planning, procurement, and implementation
  • Assist with emergency response situations as/when required

Indigenous communities:

  • Work closely with Community to support capacity building and program opportunities for Aboriginal peoples
  • Negotiate partnerships

Communication of outcomes:

  • Communicate (verbally and in writing) project outcomes to the community, investors, and public media.

This is a brilliant opportunity to work with the whole North West LLS business and external stakeholders.  It’s a role where you will need to balance a range of competing priorities and projects in an environment of high workload, accountability, strict deadlines, and high community expectations.

You’ll need to be someone as adept as talking to stakeholders and managing projects as you are performing fieldwork (such as inspections and assessments) in all conditions and terrains.

To be successful you’ll need to have;

  • A degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent level of relevant knowledge and experience
  • Excellent communication skills, with strong facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven experience in meeting project objectives, budget, and performance expectations
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and the ability and willingness to travel throughout the region as required

You will also need to be a motivated, independent, proactive, critical thinker with a strong consultative approach.

Got what it takes to make this role a success? Then launch your career to the next level by submitting your resume and a cover letter outlining how your skills and experience match what we are looking for. We will then get back in touch after the closing date with the next steps.

Closing Date: Sunday 3 October 2021 @ 11:55pm
