This exciting opportunity will contribute to the achievement of a triple bottom line approach to marine estate planning, management, monitoring and evaluation. The purpose of the role is to integrate economic expertise into the delivery of the Marine Integrated Monitoring Program and Marine Estate Management Strategy.

  • A temporary role until 30th June 2022, located in Taylors Beach (negotiable)
  • Full time opportunity offering an attractive salary from $97,152 + super

What you will be doing  

 

You will be joining DPI Fisheries, focusing on leading the economic component of the Marine Integrated Monitoring Program (MIMP) including the collection of data for economic indicators, leading a cross-agency economic technical working group, conducting regional case studies to collect primary data and assisting with economic valuation projects. DPI Fisheries is responsible for administration of the Fisheries Management Act 1994 and the Marine Estate Management Act 2014. The primary objective of  DPI Fisheries  is to deliver on expectations relating to both economic growth and careful stewardship of our aquatic resources. They lead NSW fisheries and aquaculture industry management, development and conservation through research, policy and regulatory compliance to foster sustainable and economically viable commercial, recreational and aboriginal fishing and aquaculture sectors. DPI Fisheries also manages the protection of key fish habitats and marine biodiversity, threatened species, oversees fish stock conservation. 

 

Working as a Manager, Marine Estate (Economic Monitoring & Evaluation) you are to: 

 

  • Lead the monitoring of the economic component of the MIMP, including collection of data for key performance indicators (KPI)s, leading indicators (LI)’s, and indicators identified in the economic benefits dimension of the community wellbeing framework.
  • Establish and lead a cross-agency economic technical working group to assist with monitoring the economic benefits dimension of the community wellbeing framework of the NSW marine estate and contribution to periodic evaluation of the MEMS.
  • Undertake or oversee economic valuation projects that contribute to the delivery of MEMS and MIMP projects, and achievement of MEMS and MIMP outcomes.
  • Develop and apply a consistent valuation model to be applied across multiple sectors across the marine estate, and contribute to blue economy projects.
  • Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of contract management, reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to ensure accessibility of quality information and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes.

 

What you need to be successful as a Manager, Marine Estate (Economic Monitoring & Evaluation): 

 

  • Determines and manages own work load and priorities in accordance with agreed project objectives and project plans.
  • Exercises discretion in the approach and content of information, advice and recommendations provided.
  • Refers to the Senior Manager on critical issues.
