About Us 

The Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW) was formed in 2020 as a central agency for regional issues. The Department has responsibility for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources, and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses.

The Role:

We currently have an opportunity for an exceptional leader to manage the team responsible for delivering program evaluation services and other related evaluation projects to the department. Your work will assist in understanding program performance, alignment of programs to State Outcomes, and impact the design and implementation of future DRNSW programs that will have an impact on regional communities across NSW. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and oversee team projects ensuring they meet timelines and budget requirements
  • Deliver the annual cluster evaluation schedule to Cabinet and implementation of the schedule
  • Deliver on the department’s commitment to support the whole of sector Evidence Bank
  • Partner across the department and wider government to develop strategic relationships to support the delivery of evaluation products and services
  • Lead the department’s engagement with Treasury’s Centre for Evidence and Evaluation, in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Manage diverse stakeholders to consult and negotiate on contentious and complex issues


What you’ll need:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in economics, commerce, another related discipline and/or hold equivalent experience within another relevant position/field
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven experience in managing evaluation functions or program design and development within a similar environment
  • Extensive experience in KPI formulation and evaluation as well as program evaluation planning and delivery
