The Western Local Land Services region is the largest in NSW, covering 314,500 km² or 40 per cent of the state. The Western region encompasses one of the most diverse rangeland areas in Australia, comprised of arid and semi-arid land, used mostly for grazing (sheep, cattle, goats), dryland agriculture, irrigated agriculture (cotton, horticulture, viticulture), mining, tourism and nature conservation.

What you need to do this role;

  • An interest in rangeland grazing, livestock production, cropping and/or horticulture
  • Previous experience engaging and forming strong relationships with landholders and industry stakeholders to provide timely and effective frontline advisory and extension services
  • Proven experience in delivering projects, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collect and collate data, analyse information and provide accurate reports and recommendations on natural resource management and agricultural issues
  • Ability to support emergency management by assisting with activities to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies
  • Ability to support the implementation of relevant legislation and policy
