Make a real difference as the Diversity and Inclusion Partner, through your contribution to plans that address barriers faced by people from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and communities - both in our workplace and across the NSW public sector. 

Every day is different, and your role will enable you to work with amazing leaders from across government and private organisations, including peak diversity and inclusion advocacy groups.

Our current projects include developing the Department’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan and work to improve representation of women in senior leadership. You will also actively support career initiatives for our First Nations people.

As the Diversity and Inclusion Partner you will:

  • Project manage the development of future plans, including coordination of meaningful consultation with employees, relevant stakeholders, senior management and peak advisory bodies.
  • Provide advice to a range of stakeholders on diversity and inclusion, including recruitment practices, department strategies and projects.
  • Build strong working relationships with peers in diversity and inclusion across industries, to share information and increase effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Consult and collaborate with your manager and team to build capability and identify opportunities to deliver against objectives.

 

To be successful you will need:

  • Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent by parentage, identify as being Aboriginal, and be accepted in the community as such.
  • Must be willing and able to undertake travel occasionally to various locations across NSW
  • An optimistic and helpful attitude, passion for people and genuine desire to improve accessibility and inclusion
  • Knowledge of the social model of disability, and a commitment to the “Nothing About Us, Without Us” position, in respect to all diverse groups 
  • A pragmatic approach to finding solutions for complex and sensitive issues
  • An understanding of the concept of Intersectionality and it’s impacts on people from marginalised groups
  • Ability to work and communicate with a range of people with varying levels of awareness of diversity and inclusion issues
  • An eye for detail, excellent organisational skills and ability to take ownership of own work priorities
  • Experience in coordinating or managing cross-functional projects
