Department of Regional NSW is responsible for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses.


This is a new Director role recently created to join the leadership of a growing team.


Who are we looking for?

Our Director will have extensive experience designing and implementing bold policy ideas that challenge existing ways of doing business.


You will be politically astute and have executive experience building networks to support change and reform in contested policy spaces.


The successful candidate will have developed high performing teams with a culture of critical thinking, collaboration, and a laser focus on delivering client priorities.


Experience in the following fields would be highly advantageous for this role: economic development, regulatory reform, natural resources, regional planning, or environmental management.


What will you do in the role?

Our Director Economic Development Strategy will lead bold reform projects and develop innovative, evidence-based solutions to complex policy problems to make regional NSW an even better place to live, work and invest.


You will be an influential leader and champion reform by building partnerships across government to meet the ambition of the 20-Year Economic Vision for Regional NSW.


You will lead the Department’s Economic Development Strategy Unit to deliver strategic priorities for the Minister for Regional NSW and the Secretary of the Department of Regional NSW.


The Director is a trusted and sought-after policy advisor on contemporary issues impacting regional industries and communities.
