North Coast Local Land Services is looking for a Coordinator Aboriginal Programs and Cultural Engagement to join our team to implement the LLS Aboriginal Engagement Strategy and promote engagement with external stakeholders and Aboriginal communities. We are willing to provide flexible working options to accommodate work and life commitments.

In this role you will be working closely to connect other members of our team and Aboriginal people, communities and organisations with opportunities to:

  • Implement the LLS Aboriginal Engagement Strategy
  • Participate in LLS decision-making with respect to achieving the aspirations of Traditional Owners on Country for areas of land and sea
  • Actively increase awareness of, access to, and community engagement in, LLS projects on Country
  • Continually develop the depth of our team’s awareness and understanding of Aboriginal cultural heritage and practices
  • Maintain close and cooperative working relationships with Aboriginal stakeholders and organisations
  • Deliver our obligations and responsibilities under the Native Title Act 1993 consistent with Indigenous Land Use Agreements and agreed Memoranda of Understanding.


To be successful you’ll need to have;

  • A passion for working with community and for supporting the design and delivery of Aboriginal community engagement, training and awareness events relating to LLS priorities
  • An existing knowledge of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, including an excellent understanding of Aboriginal community governance and structures, within the context of the NSW North Coast region.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent industry or professional experience in the relevant area
  • Outstanding communication, networking, negotiation and collaboration skills
  • A current NSW Drivers Licence and the ability and willingness to travel throughout the region as required


You will be energetic, enthusiastic, positive, a great team player and extremely passionate about connecting Traditional Owners with opportunities to achieve their aspirations for Country.
