The Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW) was formed in April 2020 as a central agency for regional issues.

About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, people-focused and motivated professional to join our Regional Development team within the Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW).

This role will be responsible for identifying, delivering and managing projects that can utilise NSW Government programs to attract and retain businesses, increase economic growth, grow employment, infrastructure, investment and exports for NSW. You will work as part of a team to drive and facilitate investment in the region ensuring regional NSW continues to be a vibrant and growing part of the economy.

Key accountabilities for the Business Development Manager, but not limited to:

  • Developing a portfolio of clients and projects which will deliver business outcomes
  • Developing and managing working relationships and networks with key State and Federal Government agencies
  • Planning activities and co-ordinating projects
  • Initiating innovative ideas in a rapidly changing industry and economic environment
  • Contributing towards market intelligence and database information to support improved outcomes

This role will support the team in achieving its agreed deliverables including the roll out of various funding programs, supporting local government and facilitating industry growth and investment attraction.

This role reports to the Deputy Director, Regional Development.

About You:

You have a sound understanding of the business development and investment process, financial reports and key factors driving regional economic growth.

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate experience in managing complex and sensitive consultations and negotiations with diverse stakeholders including industry, local government and State and Federal government agencies
  • Demonstrate experience in providing market intelligence and advice on industry trends and major developments that have the capacity to provide new opportunities or mitigate threats to regional businesses and industries
  • Demonstrate an ability to work with a broad range of conflicting and competing priorities in a high workload and dynamic political environment
  • Initiate and maintain communications with internal and external stakeholders with a customer service focus

Essential requirements

  • Have tertiary qualifications in business or economics or equivalent, relevant professional experience
  • Hold a current NSW Drivers Licence
