About our team:

Regional Development and Programs are the NSW Government’s eyes and ears on the ground for regional development and infrastructure delivery, providing multi-agency coordination, program and grant funding, community planning and coordination, and emergency response delivery.  

Regional Development and Programs plays a crucial leadership and community-facing role to support improved outcomes in economic development and community wellbeing for regional NSW. Our Regional Development branch contributes to the Regional Development and Programs priorities by facilitating business and industry growth and diversification to increase employment and training opportunities. We support economies in transition and work with critical stakeholders to increase service accessibility and improve the quality of life for regional NSW. Our coordination expertise enables the delivery of social outcomes, and as trusted advisors, we inform decision making and government intervention activities.  

About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, people-focused and motivated professional to join our Regional Development team within the newly created Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW).

The Business Development Manager works with businesses, government agencies and other stakeholders to deliver NSW Government programs and services promoting economic development in Regional NSW.

This role will be responsible for identifying, delivering and managing projects that can utilise NSW Government programs to attract and retain businesses, promote economic growth, increase employment, infrastructure, investment and exports for NSW.

You will be responsible for:

• Developing and managing working relationships and networks with key State and Federal Government agencies, local government, businesses, and community organisations
• Assisting with the delivery and management of projects that drive economic development and improve regional liveability
• Planning activities and co-ordinating projects
• Initiating innovative ideas in a rapidly changing industry and economic environment
• Contributing towards market intelligence and database information to support improved outcomes

You will utilise NSW Government facilitation services and programs to provide an effective integrated team approach to the successful development and implementation of regional strategies and initiatives.

About You:

You have a sound understanding of the business development and investment process, business cases and key factors driving regional economic growth. You are effective at allocating resources and prioritising tasks to ensure deadlines are met.

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will:

• Demonstrate experience in managing complex and sensitive consultations and negotiations with diverse stakeholders
• Demonstrate experience in developing and reviewing detailed business cases
• Demonstrate an ability to work with a broad range of conflicting and competing priorities in a high workload and dynamic political environment
• Initiate and maintain communications with internal and external stakeholders with a customer service focus

Essential requirements

• Have tertiary qualifications in business or economics or equivalent, relevant professional experience
• Hold a current NSW Drivers Licence
