  • Salary starting from $99,431 (pro rata) + super and leave loading

Do you want to help drive the next generation of investment in sustainable farming and natural resource management in the North Coast of NSW? Do have experience working with farmers and stakeholders on innovative projects to improve farm sustainability while still maintaining farm profitability?

North Coast Local Land Services (LLS) is offering a unique opportunity to develop strategies and business cases for public and other investment in sustainable agriculture and natural resource management. The role would ideally suit someone with a combination of experience in developing sustainable agriculture projects, emerging environmental markets and strategic business development.

The North Coast Local Land Services region extends from the Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Government Area to the Tweed Shire Council. The region is a highly diverse national biodiversity hotspot encompassing World Heritage areas, wetlands, nine large river systems, and extensive floodplains. It is home to a range of agricultural industries including beef, dairy, sugar cane, coffee, and horticulture such as blueberries.

As our Business Developer (Senior Land Services Officer) you will be responsible for:

  • Scoping and developing funding applications and investment business cases for natural resource management and sustainable agriculture, including developing project plans and budgets
  • Designing and implement business development strategies and securing new funding and market investment
  • Leading the development of partnerships with investors, landholders, agricultural industries
  • Preparing a prospectus for potential investors and partners
  • Monitoring and assessing new market opportunities, funding program opportunities relevant to natural resource management and agriculture
  • Supporting the development of organisational capacity in new markets and investment models e.g. natural capital accounting


What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Skills and experience in developing and delivering new approaches/models for farming businesses to be productive, profitable and achieve natural resource outcomes
  • Track record of leading development of multi-partner projects and investment
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant knowledge and experience in Business /Agriculture/natural resource management
  • Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders including landholders, industry representatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills relevant to communication, coordination and negotiation
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a team, but also independently
  • Excellent project management skills, including reporting, contract management, budgeting, planning and project monitoring experience
  • Desirable experience: developing and implementing projects for agricultural business practice change
