These are identified positions under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). About our team:

Regional Development and Programs are the NSW Government’s eyes and ears on the ground for regional development and infrastructure delivery, providing multi-agency coordination, program and grant funding, community planning and coordination, and emergency response delivery.  

About the role:

The Aboriginal Partnerships Officer provides advice and project management support to contribute to the development and implementation of Aboriginal Partnerships projects, strategies, and initiatives, in partnership with, Aboriginal communities that improve economic and social outcomes for Aboriginal people in regional NSW.

Some exciting aspects of this role include:

  • In conjunction with key local Aboriginal community representatives, co-design solutions that utilise NSW Government programs to increase economic participation, grow employment, improve skills, employability and improve services for Aboriginal people.
  • Implement culturally appropriate Aboriginal Partnerships framework across government agencies to connect capacity building in non-Aboriginal organisations and support the pipeline of Aboriginal employment and training pathways.
  • Create and support new opportunities in regional economies and access to markets through Aboriginal economic participation, education and skills development into government and private sector priorities including the Defence supply chain across Illawarra Shoalhaven.

About You

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, allowing you to maintain the confidence and support of stakeholders through the delivery of critical projects across the cluster.

You thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment and are confident in exercising autonomy when responding to and resolving sensitive issues.

Essential requirements

  • Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent, identify as being Aboriginal and accepted in the community as such.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people and their communities, government organisations and key Aboriginal stakeholders, with the ability to communicate across cultures.
  • Knowledge, respect and understanding of Aboriginal cultural matters.
  • Current NSW driver’s licence.
