We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Aboriginal Engagement Officer (Senior Land Services Officer) to provide technical advice and support to all South East Local Land Services staff in the identification and protection of landscape cultural values with a view to improve staff understanding of and appreciation of traditional ecological knowledge. This is a great opportunity to engage with Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal businesses and strengthen relationships and partnerships with Local Land Services.
You will develop and implement community-based information and increase the ability of Indigenous groups, rural landholders, land managers, community groups, partner organisations and industry groups to have consideration and appreciation of cultural values and traditional ecological knowledge in their management of agricultural land issues for environmental, production and biosecurity outcomes. You will have strong connections to Aboriginal people and networks in South East NSW, to help identify opportunity to strengthen relationships and participate in South East LLS planning and projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
You’ll need to have a current NSW Driver Licence, and the capacity and willingness to travel throughout the region as required. Project skills and Aboriginal community engagement experience is a must. Having established networks and knowledge of the Aboriginal community of South East NSW is highly desired.
